INKtober DAY 12 – Oogie Boogie

I have never been a huge fan of my own work until this year. I have always had issues with the stiffness of my characters. Two years ago. I finally loosened up. Slowly, my art has elevated to this new and exciting level. I cannot wait to draw something…. ANYTHING… every single day.

The perspective here is a fun “pop” for this drawing. I did not want to over-exaggerate the tossing hand. I wanted the focus of the action to only be on the dice. I wanted the dice to look very loose so I did not use a ruler for the lines, nor did I use a circle template for the dots on the dice because it needs to look rough. If the dice were drawn perfectly with straight edges and crisp circles, the dice would look like clip art thrown into a nicely inked drawing. Sometimes imperfection is perfect.

This will begin a series of Nightmare Before Christmas sketch cards for INKtober! I need to have this set ready to sell at Tyler Comic Con in a few weeks so I am about to kick this INKtober into overdrive. Stay TOON’ed for more!!!!
