INktober 2020 – Mandy from “The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy”

Here is another cartoon series that revolutionized the business of animation. “The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy” debuted in 2000 on Cartoon Network as a “test run” and began its series run the following year. My oldest son was four at the time. Such a long time ago! I still recall watching this show for the first time with him. My youngest son was a baby, so it was just me and Zachary. I once again knew the show was going over his head, he was only four, so I made sure to laugh extra hard at the gags. By exerting as much passion into my enjoyment for this show, I made the show more fun for Zachary. Plus I got to watch some more age appropriate programming. I was getting tired of Teletubbies and Blues Clues.

Here is a quick note about Mandy. When Mandy was a baby, she was shown to have never smiled; she was even visibly unhappy in her mother’s womb. When she does smile, it throws off the natural order of the universe as seen in one episode, My Fair Mandy. However, this did not apply in some earlier episodes, where she smiled only to her friends Billy and Grim.

If you are enjoying my INKtober 2020 drawings this year, please send me some motivation with a comment to this blog post. I receive a ton of post views but I get very few comments. Knowing you are enjoying my INKtober sketches helps fuel my passion to continue drawing.

Please SHARE to support my dream. The more people who see my posts, the better my chances are of succeeding in this highly completive field of cartooning.
