Frenchy says to FOLLOW HER but don’t FOLLOW HER… in today’s Comic Strip… Read why!!!

As we do every week, it is time to continue the story in the blog below. Read on to see…

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT IN TODAY’S COMIC STRIP!?!

“Um, look…”, says the young man as he tries to explain himself… “I am from a little town outside of Nacadoches and your accent sounds the same as my family’s”.

“Oh”, says Frenchy in an unconcerned tone.

“Besides, I am not on social media”, adds the young man.

“WHAT?!?”, reacts Frenchy. “How do you communicate with your friends?”

“I talk to them”, says the young man.

“To their face?”, asks Frenchy. How do you say what you really feel? It is so rude to truly express yourself to someone in person.”

“See. That is what is wrong with the internet”, explains the young man. “Everyone thinks they can speak hurtful things because they hide behind their little avatars”.

Frenchy slowly shakes her head.

“Look”, says the young man. “Say something you’d say on social media that you feel uncomfortable sharing in person”

“Okay”, says Frenchy. “Your family cannot be from East Texas because you have no accent whatsoever. “You are a fraud”.

“My mom and dad moved away to Utah when I was two. My dad was an army general and war hero. He single-handedly captured two enemy troops by trapping them in a cave they were hiding in. His action started the war’s end because the capture included the enemy’s key general.” boasts the young man.

“Wow! You should post that on social media”, says Frenchy. You would get SO MANY likes!!!”

“Have you ever tried putting away your phone for a few days and staying off social media?”, asks the young man.

“Heavens no”, says Frenchy. “What would I do if I did not have social media at my fingertips?”

“Look, there is a cool farmer’s market opening this weekend. There is so much to do, you can spend an entire day there exploring shops and listening to music” says the young man. “How about I take you and you leave the phone and social media behind. I bet you will have more fun than you have had in years”.

“Okay, let’s do this”. says Frenchy. “Here is my number. give me a call later tonight”.

And with that Frenchy skips away.

The young man quickly whips out his phone and starts typing. We pan out to see that Charmy was sitting next to them.

“Hey, what are you doing”, asks Charmy.

“I am posting this to my social media”, says the young man. “I cannot believe that B.S. about living without social media works every time”.

“So you kind of lied”, says Charmy.

“Yes…”: adds the young man. “But I blame social media”.

End scene

    1. Wow! I didn’t know that! The first time I ever heard a 15-minute “Lum and Abner” show was in my dorm room at SFA. KSAU-FM, under the direction of Dr. Joe Oliver, played it on their Halloween 1980 marathon! I live about 50 miles from Nacogdoches now.
